I’m sure we’ve all heard the term “winter blues,” however, I’m sure most of us don’t take it too seriously. But for Ohioans, it can be a very real thing!
We are well into winter here in Dayton and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably hoping the snow and freezing temperatures don’t stick around much longer. I’ve always noticed such a drastic drop in my mood and overall well-being as we head further into the cold winter months. I’ve always known our bodies take in vitamin D from the sun and I’ve always heard people joke about how bad they need to “soak up some Vitamin D” once the cold months hit. But I never realized how essential it is for our bodies to get the right amount of vitamin D until I found out my body wasn’t. It’s a seemingly small thing, easy to control, and could really make a difference!
As we all know, we are seriously lacking sunshine this time of year, which means a lot of us are seriously lacking vitamin D as well. Although I by no means claim to be a doctor, I know from personal experience with my own doctor what a difference it makes to be sure I’m getting the right amount a vitamin D a day.
Every situation is different, every person’s body is different. But the solution to your “winter blues” could be easier than you think. It’s always worth giving your doctor a call to make sure your body is working the best it can for you!
