Community outreach programs are at the core of what we do at Dayton’s CW. From donating school supplies to area High School students, to creating scholarship programs, we are constantly upping our game to further the knowledge of our youngest viewers.
One area in which we unfortunately have a lot of experience, is reporting on an accident that was caused by distracted driving. That’s why we have teamed up with AT&T and Elk & Elk to create the Wait 2 Text Program, now in it’s fourth year, which spreads awareness about the dangers associated with texting while driving.
It is estimated that anyone is 23 times more likely to be involved in an accident if they are texting while operating a vehicle. Our goal is to hit these students young, while they are just learning to drive and get the message across.
Today, the team traveled to Oakwood High School where they were met by the entire junior and senior class. Students were shown videos and given first hand accounts of how tragic distracted driving can be.
